The Origin of OSAJI
In 2001, Masakazu Shigeru, the founder of OSAJI, began his journey as a cosmetic developer. The catalyst was his mother, who was also his mentor in culture and art. At that time, Masakazu Shigeru's mother, who had a strong naturalistic bent, was involved in a traffic accident one day, and due to the mental stress, she developed a skin condition that made it impossible for her to use the cosmetics she had always loved. Until then, Masakazu Shigeru believed that what was safe to eat was also safe for the skin, but this incident raised a big question for him. He began studying dermatology and started making cosmetics in his home kitchen.

Encounter with Hot Spring Water
Considering the burden on the skin, he sought out gentle ingredients and arrived at hot spring water.
Japan has a culture of "Tōji" (hot spring therapy), and Shigeru felt that hot spring water held significant clues for cosmetic development. While poring over literature, he focused on an ingredient called "metasilicic acid." This is a natural component containing silicon, known as an essential mineral for skin and hair formation, and it is found in abundance in hot springs known as "beautifying hot springs." Shigeru sought out hot springs with higher concentrations of metasilicic acid, and after thorough research, he finally found a hot spring in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Using this hot spring water as a base, he perfected his ideal lotion through trial and error in his home kitchen. Through this development, Shigeru's skincare theory was established.
