The Origin of OSAJI
In 2001, Masakazu Shigehisa, the founder of OSAJI, embarked on his journey as a cosmetics developer. The catalyst was his mother, who was also his cultural and artistic mentor. At the time, Masakazu Shigehisa's mother, who had a strong naturalistic bent, was involved in a traffic accident one day, which caused a skin disorder due to mental stress, rendering her unable to use the cosmetics she had always cherished. Masakazu Shigehisa, who had believed that anything safe to eat was safe for the skin, had a big question and began making cosmetics in his kitchen while studying dermatology.

Encounter with Hot Spring Water
Considering the burden on the skin, he sought out gentle ingredients for the skin, and what he arrived at was hot spring water.
Japan also has a culture of "toji" (hot spring cure), and Shigehisa felt that hot spring water held a significant hint for cosmetic development. While poring over literature, he focused on an ingredient called "metasilicic acid." It is a natural ingredient containing silicon, known as a mineral essential for the formation of skin and hair, and is abundant in hot springs known as "beauty springs." Shigehisa sought hot springs with higher concentrations of metasilicic acid, and after thorough research, he finally encountered a hot spring in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture.
Based on this hot spring water, he perfected his ideal lotion through trial and error in his home kitchen. Through this development, Shigehisa established his skincare theory.
